Dead Rainbow Studies

“Time doesn’t exist before the shadows eat me.”

We artists often try to do something that leaves a mark in the history. To make us kind of immortal. When I was little my father told me mosquitos are alive only for one day. It felt like well if they live on this planet for such a short time, why do they have to be born at all? Just to die a short moment afterwards… We just wanted you to know that me and my daughter’s first Ghosts Watching Over Me exhibition took place yesterday. The name of the exhibition was Dead Rainbow Studies. …and guess what, there will be a sequence of exhibitions to follow with this photo series we have been working on since my daughter was four years old. These exhibitions will last for only one day or less, and we will not promote them in any way in advance. They will just take place in random places without notice.
Maybe you now ask what’s the purpose of such a short exhibition if no one else knows about them. But that’s your question, not ours. We already have the answer.

LAST MACHOS

Aki-Pekka Sinikoski: Last Machos

I have been extremely happy that so many of you have seen my exhibition and many of you have even made a day trip from Helsinki to Porvoo to see my exhibition.
Today I even got a message from one of the visitors that she and her father had visited the exhibition and both of them were so touched that they couldn’t leave the exhibition with dry eyes. Another visitor told me the he had laughed hysterically there together with his dad and daughter.

…What more can I ask for?!? Strong emotional reactions with full scale. Thank you so much for all this wonderful feedback ?

Next week is the last week of my Last Machos exhibition; it will be there only until November 27th. Gallery will be open from Tuesday to Sunday. So be sure not to miss it!

FINNISH TEENS + HELSINGIN SANOMAT

Good news! Finnish Teens exhibition hasn’t even started yet and Helsingin Sanomat (the largest subscription newspaper in Nordic countries) already made a half page article of it in their Sunday section. So if you missed the yesterday’s news you might find a treasure in your closest paper recycle bin.

Oh boy! You do not want to get your hands dirty? Yes I knew it, and you are not too enthusiasted to dig your neighbours trashes either. That’s why I scanned the arcticle. You can find it HERE.

All the best, Peki

BOB THE BUILDER… OR SOMETHING

Hi Folks! After more than two years of photo shootings, I’m finally here in the Finnish Museum of Photography. It has been a long but enjoyable road and I’m definitely happy that I started it. I want to thank all the teenagers I have had the chance to meet and photograph during this photo project.

And now after two days of hard work most of the photos are already up on the walls and I feel like Bob the Builder.

But to be honest I have mostly only been Peki the Photographer. The real Bob the Builder has been Heikki from from the museum’s staff, who has helped me a lot with the practical details with constructing the exhibition. Today he even surprised me with this fancy name sign on the wall. Personally I was thinking about something a bit smaller but what the heck. If I get this big sign for my exhibition from museum – a big one it will be. And the good thing with this is, that if some of you will not like the pictures in my exhibition I bet you will at least love the huge sign. Heh hee!

Still two days to go and millions of details to fix, but I promise you that everything will be ready by Tuesday’s opening.

Cheers, Peki

AUTUMN IS HERE…

Autumn is here… YEP, but don’t be too horrified because the good news is that there is only one week left before the Finnish Teens’ exhibition opening. It’s going to be the BIG one, so if you are alive and in Helsinki – do not miss the opening at Finnish Museum of Photography, September 13th at 5–7 pm. Exhibition will be open until October 16th. For more information, please check: http://www.valokuvataiteenmuseo.fi/en

And just to make sure, our life here in the palace of Korea is not just art: We are happy to tell you that Peki has once again worked on plenty of great commercial projects as well. Besides that we can tell you that he has got flattering feedback from both his old and new clients. We will give you more information on these projects in the near future on Korea’s Blog but at this point we will leave you with the quote from one of our new clients. Like many of Korea’s friends the photo editor of the legendary German Stern Magazin seems to appreciate both the style and quality of Peki’s work. “Excellent picture, congratulation! — I’m really satisfied with your work.”

Jepulis, autumn is here but that’s not such a bad thing after all.

PEKI IN PRESS

Helsingin Sanomat, the largest subscription newspaper in Nordic countries has a weekly magazine called Nyt-liite. In today’s issue Peki’s photos of Finnish Teens has been pointed out as a gem of MoA 2011 exhibition. We totally agree and want to remind you that if you did miss this exhibition, make sure to see his forthcoming exhibition in the Finnish Museum of Photography in September.

Arttu Magazine made an interview with Peki. You can find the scanned version of that one HERE. Text is written in Finnish by Tommi Laitio, including an English resume.

PEKI GOES MoA 2011

We are happy to tell you that a selection of Peki’s new Finnish Teens photo series is part of MoA 2011 exhibition (more information HERE). The whole series will be exhibited in September at the Finnish Museum of Photography.

Oh, and by the way Peki just graduated from Aalto University’s Department of Photography. So please remember that from now on whenever you speak/write to him you should always call him Master Sinikoski or Magister Artium Sinikoski. And don’t you never ever forget that. The only exception is taken from Master Yoda.

NEW METHOD & STEVEN ELOP

Hello my friends! We have just invented an incredible working method that we are now happy to share with you. Our all future projects are from now on based on the revolutionary Korea’s STSDESFGSMEHSGVTSGPGSHCMUSHT® method that changes everything. Again. It just works. It’s like tiger unleashed.

And if you haven’t figured it out on your own, the method’s name is based on it’s original version: Super Talented Super Dad Eating Super Food to Get Super Much Energy to Have Super Good Vibes to Take Super Good Photos to Get Super Happy Customers that Make Us Super Happy Too.

If you are an old friend of Korea you might know that we haven’t been too active to publish tearsheets of our projects, but because we just got this one all the way from Canada we are going to make an exception.

This one is from one of the latest Canadian Business Magazine. They made an article of “Canada’s own boy” Nokia’s CEO Mr. Steven Elop. Photos for the article was taken by your Korea’s finest Aki-Pekka Sinikoski. The client loved the photos and trusts us, that’s what they do. Thanks to our patented STSDESFGSMEHSGVTSGPGSHCMUSHT® method.

Good Shit World Wide 2011!

NEW ALBUM!

Jarkko Martikainen: Usko

Today the new album of Jarkko Martikainen has been released. It is titled ‘Usko’ which means faith in Finnish. Usko is also an old traditional male name in Finnish.

The picture concept of the album was created by me together with Jarkko, and graphic designer Jussi S. Karjalainen. It’s a visual story about an artist living by himself and thinking about faith and his relationship to religions. The photos of the album is showing how this man is building his own wooden poorboy (vaivaisukko) called Usko. The artist is starting to live his life together with this little wooden man.

These wooden poorboys have traditionally standed outside of churches to collect money for the sick and poor people. This wooden poorboy in the pictures was actually builded by Jarkko Martikainen himself.

The new album is excellent and I strongly recommend you to get it as a really beautiful limited deluxe version that includes not only a CD and a DVD, but also hell of a lot of great pictures taken by me.

All the best, Peki
