Ghosts watching over me

Dead Rainbow Studies

“Time doesn’t exist before the shadows eat me.”

We artists often try to do something that leaves a mark in the history. To make us kind of immortal. When I was little my father told me mosquitos are alive only for one day. It felt like well if they live on this planet for such a short time, why do they have to be born at all? Just to die a short moment afterwards… We just wanted you to know that me and my daughter’s first Ghosts Watching Over Me exhibition took place yesterday. The name of the exhibition was Dead Rainbow Studies. …and guess what, there will be a sequence of exhibitions to follow with this photo series we have been working on since my daughter was four years old. These exhibitions will last for only one day or less, and we will not promote them in any way in advance. They will just take place in random places without notice.
Maybe you now ask what’s the purpose of such a short exhibition if no one else knows about them. But that’s your question, not ours. We already have the answer.

TRE is one of the coolest spots in Helsinki right now with their interest in art/design/fashion/etc. So I’m really happy they wanted to do this story about the photo series we have been working with my daughter since 2013. And no worries, no Finnish skills needed, the interview is in English. 🙂

2 x SINIKOSKI + ART RESIDENCY

Sinikoski & Sinikoski: Ghosts Watching Over Me

Hello there! I will be working at an art recidency here in Northern Finland in July. The first part I will work here alone. The last week I will be working together with my daughter on this photo series we are making together. It’s called Ghosts Watching Over Me.

I started to take these photos when my daughter was only four. I think this series is dealing with the relationship between father and daughter and their fears. When my daughter was younger she was afraid of totally other things than today when she is already eight years old.

We are really proud of this photo finished today. We hope it is important for you as well. Take care, you are important!

BLUE EYES

“She said she don’t want to show her face because her eyes were feeling blue and she had left them at home. I said it’s alright and that I sometimes felt the same.”
This is a new photo from the series called Ghosts Watching Over Me. We are making it together with my daughter.

PHOTO SHOOTING TRIP

Sinikoski Photo Shooting Trip

Yes! I have packed my family and some of my photo gears. All of us are so ready to hit the road! It’s going to be an epic shooting trip with the best crew ever! Our friends will stay at our place to take care of our flowers while we will take care of our selves and the ghost studies we are doing together with my daughter. Wish us luck!

THE MEGAPHONIC THRIFT

The Norwegian indie mammoth, The Megaphonic Thrift has just released their new album Sun Stare Sound. The cover art is from my forthcoming art series Ghosts Watching Over Me. Graphic Design is done by my favourite graphic designer in Berlin, Mr. Petri “Blank Blank” Henriksson.

Sinikoski & Sinikoski: Ghosts Watching Over Me

This weekend I will be exhibiting new art work from the series Ghosts watching over me. It will be presented in the exhibition by Loviisa Conteporary. The exhibition is titled Onko täällä ketään?/Anybody out there? and it is curated by Kati Rapia.

So I strongly recommend you to book a visit to Loviisa next weekend (30.31.8.2014) because there is going to be a great selection of Finnish artists exhibited in the old idyllic wooden houses.

Besides my stuff you also can enjoy works by Terike Haapoja, Perttu Saksa, Niclas Warius, Janne Lehtinen, Katja Tukiainen, Jenni Rope, Matti Hagelberg, Hanna Saarikoski, Tellervo Kalleinen, Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen, Jari Silomäki, Pia Sirén, and Sasha Huber.

PEACE & LOVE,
