YLE (the Finnish Broadcasting Company) made a radio interview with me working here in Ii/Kulttuurikauppila.
Haastattelijana YLE Oulun toimittaja Kati Teirikko.
Around 650 kilometers up north from Helsinki is a town called Ii. The place is not only blessed with the shortest place name in Finland but also with a amazingly active cultural life with for example an environmental art biennale. At the moment I’m working here as a guest artist together with another artist in residence from Japan and a bunch of local artists. It’s going to be an extremely busy month up here but I can already now say that I’m super happy to work here with all these people.
BTW, today I met a lady who told me that the origin of the name Ii comes from the North Sami word “idja” that means night… Hmmm… If you describe night as the time between sunset and sunrise then at this time of the year here in Ii there so much light that the idja lasts only for 1 hour and 31 minutes. –Sounds like the Sami people had a good sense of irony wink emoticon
I will try to be active here during this month so you will have a chance to follow my adventures here. Next time I will tell you more about my forthcoming project here.
THIS IS IT! One of the most lunatic productions I have ever done! I’m so so so proud of this video. I hope you love it as much as I do!

PS. So much good stuff on its way right now. Even more new and brilliant stuff with WÖYH! is going to be released soon when Dwzyrek will be out on April 17th as a gigantic special edition book/album full of my photos. So beware as this epic saga continues in the album art work as well.
Last week was ”something else” for me and and my Superkasi fellow Jussi Karjalainen. We had some epic moments while working in Iceland for WÖYH!’s forthcoming album. During last week I shot all the album art works, promo photos and even the music video for them. –O’boy, the Icelandic weather was quite something: rain, heavy snowstorms, and the hardest wind I have ever experienced. And YES, we still managed to shoot in all of those weather conditions.
I would definitely like to thank WÖYH!’s band members Jussi Hyyrynen (YUP) and Antti ”Hyrde” Hyyrynen (Stam1na) for their super high work ethic. They didn’t complain even when we were shooting on the shore line when it was raining iced water while the wind was blowing more than 22 meter/second and the windflaws reached 37 meter/second. In that weather there was such strong emotions in the air that probably even Joukko Turkka would have been proud of us.
We can start with the cover photos I took for the WÖYH!’s next album (Dwzyrek) and to their first single (Kamppailu merellä). The ”Hemingwayish” making of photo is taken by Jussi. More stuff coming soon, so stay tuned.
I wish you a lot of sunshine, a mug full of good coffee and a super good day!

Hi friends! 2015 is here and I have started it as I finished the last year –with good work flow and plenty of super interesting projects. I’m pretty damn sure that 2015 will be a REALLY GOOD ONE. Last week I spent on the outer archipelago of Åland taking photos for my forthcoming series called An Island. More teasers from that one soon.
Peace & Love, Peki
