UNDER MÅNEN/KUUN VALOSSA

Yey!!! My first children’s book is out now!!! Here in Finland it’s published in Swedish (Under månen) by Schildts & Söderströms and in Finnish (Kuun valossa) by S & S.

Illustrations by Ilja Karsikas.

“When I was little, my mum flew to the moon. She worked at the circus. That night they shot her up in the air, like always. But it wasn’t an ordinary night; it was a night full of magic. Once my mum was in the air, she never came down, she simply went on flying. Through the tent, past the clouds, all the way to the moon. That’s where she’s sitting now. Looking down at us and smiling.”

According to the publishing house:

”Aki-Pekka Sinikoski makes his debut as an author with a warm and philosophical text that receives a precise and personal accompaniment from Ilja Karsikas’ watercolour illustrations. In Under the Moon, they create a magical world where sadness, but also beauty and absurdity, have a place. This sensitive and wistful book about the meaning of love, existence and the purpose of life brings to mind children’s classics of world literature like Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince.”

As an author Aki-Pekka Sinikoski is internationally represented by Helsinki Literary Agency.

NEW GHOSTS – BLUE GHOSTS

New Ghosts is now Blue Ghosts. During these extra ordinary times it’s important to protect all of us. That is why our exhibition in Jyväskylä is closed and wrapped in blue at the moment. If the situations gets better in a month, we will reopen the exhibition between April 14 and April 26.

If not, we hope to see you in Helsinki at Hippolyte Gallery in October or in the Northern Photographic Centre in Oulu at the end of the year.

THANK YOU!

Thank you for the wonderful exhibition opening in Gallery Ratamo. The atmosphere was warm and beautiful and we really could feel connected to you. Thank you for all your kind words and thank you for sharing your stories and thoughts. After the opening, it was snowing and we were so happy, grateful and full of life.

Our warm greetings go also to läänintaiteilija Marko Hämäläinen who interviewed us. –You have one of the biggest hearts in the whole wide world!

For those of you who haven’t seen the New Ghosts exhibition yet, you have the chance to see it at Gallery Ratamo in Jyväskylä until 29 March.

After Jyväskylä the following New Ghosts exhibitions in Finland will take place at

–Gallery Hippolyte in Helsinki (October 2020)
–Northern Photographic Centre in Oulu (November 2020)

More New Ghosts exhibitions outside of Finland will be published soon. See you on the road.

Stay safe. You are important!

❤️ Aki & Astrid

NEW GHOSTS – NEW EXHIBITION

The first New Ghosts exhibition in 2020 will take place 5.–29.3. at the beautiful Gallery Ratamo in Jyväskylä.

You are welcome to the opening 4 March at 5 pm. There will be a New Ghosts Artist Talk hosted by regional artist (läänintaiteilija) Marko Hämäläinen and we’ll stay in the gallery together with Astrid even after the official program, so I’m sure you’ll have a chance to chat with us if you feel like that. We have worked with these images since 2011 and YES, we are super proud of this exhibition, so it’ll be a pleasure to share it with you.

I will also have a photo workshop in Jyväskylä on 29 March so even if we don’t know too many people in Jyväskylä region – yet! – we hope that will change pretty soon.

Peace & Love, Aki & Astrid

SCHILDTS & SÖDERSTRÖMS

Boom! I have news for you. I have written a children’s book and the super duper @iljakarsikas is doing illustrations for it. It’s going to be published by @schildtssoderstroms and @kustantamossa both in Swedish (Under månen) and in Finnish (Kuun valossa) simultaniously in spring 2020. According to my daughter it’s the best book ever written, so stay tuned. (Photo by Astrid) ✌️😄✌️

NEWSWEEK JAPAN by Q SAKAMAKI

I have something extraordinary for all my Japanese friends and followers out there. The wonderful Q Sakamaki ( @qsakamaki ) interviewed me for his highly ranked photo blog in the Japanese version of Newsweek magazine. Thank you so much Q ?Arigato ?

For all my non-Japanese-speaking friends: When looking at ???the article with all those cool characters, you might have a feeling of being ”lost in translation”, but don’t worry, I can assure you every single word from me are truly the words of wisdom and I sound like a nobel hearted genious. (And all my Japanese followers actually understanding the text, please don’t break the illusion ???)

????

One of my biggest dream is to have an exhibition in Japan. So if there is anyone out there who can help me with this dream, please give me a shout. You can find my website address in my bio.

平静& 愛情, Aki Sinikoski
