Just wanted to log in to say hi! This month I have been writing my forthcoming book at an artist residency located in a magical village called Ii. I truly believe time is different here. Different than anywhere else I have ever been. Kind of kinder, or something ❤️ Thank you KulttuuriKauppila for showing me so much love during all these years, and treating me like one of your own. It has always been good to be here. ⭐️

P.S. What you can see from image 2 onwards, are spreads from the German magazine Eltern. They published a six-page portfolio story of me and Astrid 🥳
There are those super brief moments when you are proud of something you have done. (Moments just before you usually find yourself stepping on dog💩 or something similar 🥳)
To celebrate this short moment of gratitude, I wish to share with you some exhibition news I’m happy and proud of. Something that makes me smile. Something both me and Astrid have worked hard for, for many years.
First of all, at the moment I have three international exhibitions at the same time. Two of them together with my daughter Astrid✌️😃✌️
In Israel, we are also one of the finalists for the Meitar Award. 🏆 In Sydney, I’m exhibiting next to fantastic Roger Ballen, and one of my photos is also a nominee for the Best Portrait Photo.
The last years haven’t been only sunshine, but still we have managed to have more than 20 exhibitions in Australia, Israel, Italy, Spain, Russia (Moscow & Yekaterinburg), Malesia, Latvia, Georgia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Germany, Jyväskylä, Kuopio, Inari, Orivesi, Oulu, Tampere, Turku, and Helsinki.
I want to thank each and everyone who has helped Astrid and me during our journey. You know who you are. Thank you ⭐️ And still: This is just the beginning! I have even more good news waiting just around the corner. More about that soon❤️
Good news! I will exhibit my photo series I Love Dogs in Sydney, Australia at the Head On Photo Festival! 🍾
I have been documenting people and their lives in Finland since 2008. This series started while my childhood friend Sam the Guardian Dog and I traveled around Finland. After some deep discussions about identity and change, we began photographing men whose identities included pup play. And yes, of course, I took a portrait of my dear friend Sam as well.
I think this photo series is a journey into the diversity of human beings—discussions about identity and change, about accepting oneself and people around you as they are.
I Love Dogs, Head On Photo Festival, Sydney, Australia. 19 November to 19 December 2021
New Ghosts by Aki & Astrid Sinikoski Latvian Museum of Photography 7.10.2021–1.2.2022
⭐️ Hi friends!
If you are visiting Riga, be sure not to miss our exhibition at the Latvian Museum of Photography. New Ghosts by me and my daughter Astrid has taken over the whole 3rd floor!
And that’s not all: On the 2nd floor there are also great photo exhibitions by Juuso Westerlund and Johannes Romppanen
We love the magical light summer nights here in Finland. That’s why we wanted to turn them even more magical.
We are celebrating momentariness with a series of screenings with our latest video work: LAST SONG. Screening performances take place at late night in carefully selected, but totally random locations all around Finland and without any notice in advance.
We are looking forward to meet, serve and celebrate with people we’ve never meet before. (And let’s see, maybe we will even meet somebody we already know 😊) These screening performances are always dedicated to all of you whose path crosses ours totally accidentally. Let’s celebrate those magical moments and encounters. Let’s celebrate wonderful summer nights. Let’s celebrate life.
I love every detail of this project I photographed for Marzi Nyman and Kaskelotti Records. It’s a fantastic album by Marzi but also a beautiful photo diary. So if you want to buy a photo book by me you can start with this one – and the music will be included ? Love & support by Hyyrysjussi, Graphic design is by Jussi Karjalainen, Photos & Photo Concept Design by me.
We have been working hard, travelling like nomads and making more than 15 short term exhibitions without permissions in public places and private properties in France, Spain, Andorra and Finland. I have been taking care of her and she has been taking care of me.
And now FINALLY!!! I’m happy to tell you that me and my daughter have been invited to have an Ghosts Watching Over Me exhibition in May 2019 at Head On Photo Festival in Sydney, Australia. ”Head On Photo Festival is Australia’s premier photography event and one of the world-leading photo festival with more than 4 million viewers/year.”
Summer is here, you are here, and even the new Kamera Magazine is here including an EIGHT PAGES ARTICLE OF ME!!! –WOW, I didn’t see this one coming. Feeling happy and honoured! ?❤️⭐️
